Promotions Set For Home-Opener

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ gymnastics team makes its first appearance in Barnhill Arena this week when the 11th-ranked Razorbacks open Southeastern Conference competition against No. 23 Kentucky on Friday at 7 p.m.
Promotions for the meet include free schedule posters and schedule magnets. There will also be a drawing for a fan pack for UA students and t-shirts will be thrown into the stands each time the Razorbacks score a 9.8 or higher.
Arkansas opened its season last week by winning the Cancun Classic over a stacked field. The Razorbacks set a school record for a season-opener by scoring 196.45 points to top No. 19 Arizona, No. 17 Auburn, No. 25 Iowa and No. 12 LSU.
Sophomore All-American Katherine Grable won all-around and beam titles, senior All-American Jaime Pisani won vault and floor titles, and senior Mariah Howdeshell won bars.
Arkansas’ 196.45 was the second-highest score in the nation for the week, beating scores recorded by No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 5 Utah, among others. No. 9 Georgia, with a 196.525, was the only team in the nation to score better than the Razorbacks.
